Many schools and universities now recognize and acknowledge that there is a growing need and demand to provide education to other people who are not able to attend classes in traditional classrooms. In the past, distance education was only provided by a handful of academic institutions but now, most Colleges and Universities make some of their courses available online.

Prior to the existence of the internet, distance education was conducted through regular mail. The internet has changed all this and now, most distance education courses are conducted completely online. Of course there are some schools that still offer the traditional option, and there are some courses that require a blending of both online and on-campus learning.

Academic institutions that offer online learning programs should make sure that their online portals are on reliable web hosts. Universities cannot afford to not be online at all times because this would affect the study schedule of those enrolled in the online program.

The reliability of web hosts can be determined by evaluating the ratings and reading the comments found on sites called web hosting user reviews. Host reviews, such as Just Host Review, were developed to help consumers find good host providers for their needs. Host reviews rate the services provided by web hosts and the reviewers are usually the host’s past and present subscribers.

Web host user reviews are great online resources that can be easily accessed by anyone at any time. By reading host reviews, developers of online portals can find hosts that can meet the demands of schools offering online education.

Thanks for the post, Nora Howe

Last Friday I was out shopping when I received a call from a number I did not recognize on my cell phone. It was our home security monitoring company calling to let me know that our alarm was going off! Knowing that no one should be at my house, I asked the person calling to go ahead and dispatch the police and hoped in my car and headed home. I arrived home shortly after the police did. There were no signs that anyone had actually entered my house and no indications that anyone had actually tried.

I’m not sure what tripped the alarm but if it was someone trying to get in it must have scared them away before they could do any damage. If I was ever unsure about having a home security system, I am not now. I sure would have hated to come home that day to find my stuff missing! In the past I have been guilty of sometimes forgetting to set my alarm but I’m pretty sure that won’t ever happen again.

It is the sharing of technology between two or more organizations. Usually, one organisation has developed a new technology and licenses it to the other organization, whose goal is to commercialize that technology. For instance, a university who has developed a new technology may license that technology to businesses so that the businesses can develop the new technology into a product, process, application, or service.

The practice of technology transfer can greatly benefit an organization. What is technology transfer? It is the sharing of technology between two or more organizations. Usually, one organisation has developed a new technology and licenses it to the other organization, whose goal is to commercialize that technology. For instance, a university who has developed a new technology may license that technology to businesses so that the businesses can develop the new technology into a product, process, application, or service as well as quick loans online.

Who are the organizations who are involved in technology transfer? Universities and other primary research organisations regularly license their technologies to businesses. Also, businesses involved in different fields may benefit from this sharing.

Parties on both sides of an agreement benefit. The researchers who developed the technology earn licensing fees, and the organisation who has licensed it can develop and manufacture it into a patented product or service to be sold, while avoiding rising research and development costs.

Many opportunities have emerged because of tech transfer. Fields like biotechnology and diagnostics, pharmaceutical drug discovery, energy and engineering, and microelectronics and optoelectronics are all making use of technology transfer. Researchers can now develop a technology, and then license it out so that organisations with other specialized skill sets can take it further. Researchers may be looking for organisations who can further develop the technology. These organisations may have superior manufacturing, marketing, and distribution capabilities.

Tech transfer also occurs so that the technology can be applied in different fields than what is was designed as well. The researchers may have developed and been able to use the technology in one field, but license it out for use in other fields. For instance, the developer of the technology might be capable of exploiting the technology in diagnostic applications, but might not have the capability to exploit it in therapeutic applications, so they could license it out to a therapeutic application focused organisation. Finding available tech transfer opportunities and capitalising on them may be just what your organisation needs to develop that new product or service that you’ve been searching for.
